Let's get the Language Right in School

Let's get the Language Right in School

From September 2020 mental health lessons will be introduced to schools.

Mental Health Today explain that “ For some students, this will be the first time they have been given the opportunity to discuss mental health, making them likely to mirror the language introduced to them by teachers.”

In preparation for this Mental Health Today have produced an Anti-Glossary of terms which “explains why, in their opinion, many expressions seen in plans for mental health classes are, at best, problematic and, at worst, deeply damaging.”

The organisation explains “It is brilliant that mental health lessons are becoming mandatory, but ill-informed and judgemental lessons could do more harm than having no lessons at all”

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
