Labour Leader Visits Disability Sheffield

We were delighted to welcome Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn to our office on March 25th during his visit to Sheffield to support Labour’s candidate, Gill Furniss, in the upcoming Hillsborough and Brightside by-election . Following the Government’s U Turn on the cuts to disability benefits that were announced in the budget, the Labour Leader wanted to hear more about and discuss the value of Personal Independence Payments and what effect the Government’s hastily-withdrawn proposal to cut them would have had. Mr Corbyn spoke with staff, trustees, members, service users and friends of Disability Sheffield praising the work of Disability Sheffield and Sheffield’s reputation as ‘a radical place that does support people with disabilities. All that is under threat if we consistently underfund local government in the way that this government is doing”, he added. View Sheffield Telegraph Article. .

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
