Holocaust Memorial Day Vigil 2018

Every January the world has been marking Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD). The UK has marked HMD every year since 2001.

The aim of HMD is to share the memory of the millions who have been murdered in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur in order to challenge hatred and persecution in the world today.

To commemorate HMD Sheffield is holding a candlelit vigil on Thursday 25 January 2018 from 5.30 to 7pm in the Winter Garden. The theme this year is The power of words. Each year there are a variety of speakers and performers from different communities to highlight both past and present genocide, persecution and discrimination.

A selection of short films will be screened in the Winter Garden during the day, from 12pm to 4.30pm.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
