Free Arthritis Self Management Event

Free Arthritis Self Management Event

Living with arthritis – as more than ten million people in the UK do, making it the most common cause of disability – can be extremely difficult both physically and emotionally, so a charity has set up an online event this month to help people learn to cope.

Arthritis Action was founded in 1942 by Charles de Coti-Marsh, who along with a group of 49 people, had gained relief from the pain of arthritis by following a self-help programme he had developed, based on a combination of diet and physical therapy. It became a registered charity in 1985.

The charity states that their intention ‘is to help others manage their symptoms and enjoy a more active life with increased energy.’

They have set up a free online introductory self-management event which will take place on Thursday September 19th at 6pm.

Living Well With Arthritis will cover a range of topics, including:
- Speaking with healthcare professionals
- Pain-management
- Healthy eating advice and weight management
- Advice on staying active
- Managing difficult emotions
- Positive thinking and mindfulness

People living with, or supporting those that live with arthritis, are welcome to join the event on Eventbrit.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
