Disability History Online Survey

What types of stories should be told about the history of disability? The history of disability is long and complex, and knowing where to start when teaching that history can be difficult. There are thousands of different ways of approaching the past and stories that we can tell.

Further to our recent blog The Disability History Network have launched an online survey which asks you to think about the kinds of stories you would like secondary school aged children to learn about to illustrate the history of disabilty.

What kinds of topics and issues should be covered? What kinds of emotions would you like to evoke? Are there aspects of the history of disability that you believe should be foregrounded or even left out entirely? Which stories highlight disability empowerment and which do you believe are important for children to learn about?

The deadline for the completion of the survey is 31st October. If you have any questions feel free to contact Esme at e.r.cleall@sheffield.ac.uk

Recent Feedback    (We'd love to receive your feedback, please click here to add some)

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
