Sheffield University’s Faculty of Social Sciences are working with academics from the School of Education to create a video to promote a research project into how captions in films (and TV programmes) could be changed to improve Deaf audiences’ viewing, particularly for films that rely on suspense for the storylines.
They are looking for two people who identify as D/deaf people and use BSL as their first language to appear in the video that will be filmed on Wednesday 1st November on campus. An interpreter will be present and you will be fully briefed before the filming takes place.
You will be needed from approximately midday until 2:30pm on the 1st November. You will get paid for your time at the Grade 2.2 level of £11.58 per hour and there will be regular breaks during that time.
The video will be hosted across the university’s social media channels, university owned websites, external sites and will be promoted to the mass media.

If you are interested in appearing in this video please email Vicky Sampson at v.sampson@sheffield.ac.uk by Friday 20th October.
