In January we reported on the Supreme Court victory of Doug Paulley. However, as we pointed out at the time, some felt the ruling did not go far enough.
Doug contacted us recently to tell us about the upcoming ‘Buses Bill’saying “non-disabled people in the wheelchair space can still refuse to move to other parts of the bus, and bus companies don’t have the power to make them. The Buses Bill is going through Parliament now. This is a rare chance to change the law to improve accessibility for disabled people.”
Doug’s Dad has launched a petition on the UK Government and Parliament’s website, calling for more to be done to ensure that wheelchair users are able to travel by bus without being discriminated against.
If the petition reaches 10,000 signatures, the government will respond to the petition. At 100,000 signatures, the petition will be considered for debate in Parliament.
Please sign the petition here. if you agree – the deadline is 15 August 2017.
