Accessible Performance Guidance

Accessible Performance Guidance

The Sheffield University Theatre Company (SUTCo) has opened a consultation into the effectiveness of accessible performances of their theatre productions.

Ahead of upcoming shows in the spring semester, Welfare and Inclusions Officer Sophie Layton is inviting members of the public to share their views regarding accessibility and any measures they would benefit from in a theatrical setting, as audience members.

Open to anyone who wishes to contribute, the consultation will be used to create guidance materials for student production teams, to ensure their accessible performances are as inclusive as possible and effectively cater to the needs of the community.

The consultation is available in this Word document . Sophie says : It is quite a lengthy document, but there is no pressure for any respondents to answer every question if they do not wish to! Please contact Sophie Layton for further information, with any questions, or to get the form in a more accessible format at inclusions.sutco@gmail.com .

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
