Paid Placements for Disabled Young People

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, 70 paid placements for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are available across the country in the natural heritage sector. Disabled young people are among those whose applications will be prioritised by host organisations. The closing date for a placement in the Hope Valley is 12pm Friday 11th November 2022.

Our inclusive cycling project Sheffield Cycling 4 All has worked in collabaration with Sport For Confidence, Sport England and the Collage Of Occupational Therapists among others to create a resource for healthcare professionals.The ‘Therapeutic Value of Cycling’ gives medical professionals the information and confidence to support disabled people and people with long-term health conditions to experience the joys of cycling and all the benefits that come with it.

Third Party Deductions Legal Challenge

The ability to apply to the DWP for a proportion of a person’s benefits to be paid direct to third parties such as private electric, gas and water companies, will be affected following a successful judicial review challenge brought by Helen Timson, a disabled former police officer.The way that the DWP operates the scheme – and in particular the way that the written guidance is drafted – will need to be significantly altered.
