A new initiative developed and hosted by Sheffield Flourish on the Sheffield Mental Health Guide reminds people that if you are living with severe mental illness you are entitled to a free physical health check every year and that a healthier body can often lead to a healthier mind.

Sharing your experiences will help support work both on existing taxi issues already reported and on responses to the Clean Air Zone proposals which require many taxi drivers to change or upgrade their vehicles.

It’s a season of live music, dance, art, baking poetry and radio.Their next event is a free online club night on Friday 24 September from 7pm.

Applications are now open for a free online creative writing development course funded by Arts Council England. The course is entitled ‘Writing Happiness – Writing Back Joyfully’ and is run by and for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent writers, including people with long term mental health problems and chronic illnesses. Healthwatch Sheffield has published its annual report for 2020-21, which gave them the chance to reflect on what was a difficult year for most and a year like no other. The organisation says that they have achieved some real highlights and spoken up for Sheffield’s communities where they could, but there’s lots that they still hope to do.

A fun and friendly group which organises leisure events for disabled people has restarted and there are hopes for expansion once Covid-19 regulations loosen up. The ‘Leisure Time’ sessions take place at Concord Sports Centre” on Friday mornings from 10.30-12.30 and costs £3.00 (carers free ).
