Healthwatch Sheffield are working with researchers from the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) to recruit people for a Public Involvement in Research Group (PIRG).Group members will meet virtually or face to face and regularly review ongoing research, new applications for grants and the development of new ideas and products that aim to help people to move more and improve their wellbeing.

The Civil Service is looking for volunteers to take part in major research into the everyday lived experience of individual disabled people. The Policy Lab, based in the Cabinet Office, is looking for people who have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on their ability to do normal daily activities. Your input will help policy makers in the Civil Service to better understand the people they are trying to reach. High Street Vouchers are provided to all research participants.

The roles of workplace personal assistants (PAs), who support disabled people to do their jobs, needs to be more clearly defined and better supported if accessible workplaces are to flourish, new research by Sheffield Hallam and York Universities has said. People over the age of 50 with long-term disabilities are being asked to take part in a new study into the effects of ageing. Sheffield Hallam University and Partners for Inclusion have teamed up to carry out research into the effects of ageing on people with long term disabilities. “The lived experience of disabled people is missing from conversations about what it means to grow older. Disabled people have a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience about disability and ageing that currently isn’t discussed within services, communities or the research literature,” says Jill Pluquailec, who is carrying out the research at the University.
