Mencap, the charity that describes itself as ‘the voice of learning disability’ has launched its own TV channel to alleviate loneliness during the lockdown. It has arrived at a time when research by the Office for National statistics on Coronavirus and the social impacts on disabled people in Great Britain , shows that many people with learning disabilities have lost social support during the Covid-19 crisis.

A charity set up by a Sheffield woman to offer support to youngsters living with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities has released a version of the classic song You’ve Got A Friend, performed by some of the children and young people of CP Teens ,to say thanks to and raise funds for the NHS. CP Teens UK, the brainchild of Ellie Simpson, also recently held a Virtual Wobble to raise money for themselves with participants being filmed doing their distance.
