The University of Sheffield’s history department is hoping to build an educational resource about disability finding out what people learnt about the British Empire and disability history in general, during their education. Ten new projects across the UK have received between £40,000 and £150,000 of National Lottery funding each, to explore how disabled people can live as full citizens in our society and what changes and support will make that happen in practice. One project led by ALLFIE, in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, is investigating a particular measure that exists in English law to test its effectiveness as a driver of inclusive education for disabled pupils and students. ‘Accessibility Plans’ are a measure of the Equality Act 2010.
