To coincide with the Special Olympics coming to Sheffield we’re planning a photographic exhibition in the Winter Gardens during August to celebrate disabled people taking part in leisure activities you enjoy in the city.

Thanks to a great response to our appeal for volunteers, Sheffield Cycling 4 All are starting cycling sessions on a Tuesday from 25th April from 10 to 3pm (term time only) alongside the Thursday sessions which run during the school holidays too. We’re still seeking volunteers to join the Tuesday team so do please get in touch if you’re interested.

Disability Sheffield has teamed up with Sheffield City Council and Nimbus to offer the new “Access Card” for disabled people and a “Carers Card” to anyone caring for someone in Sheffield. As part of the “Accessible Sheffield” project the aim is to make life easier for people. A group of young carers tried out their cards at Quasar.

We are very excited that Sheffield Cycling 4 All, part of Disability Sheffield, has been awarded £46,000 over 2 years which will enable more disabled people to use the accessible bikes through providing more cycle sessions at a reduced cost.
