Booster Vaccinations
The COVID-19 vaccination national booking service is now open for all frontline health and social care staff to book a booster vaccine appointment through self-referral. This includes Personal Care Assistants.
From 24 September, Health and Social Care Worker (HSCW) staff will be able to book their appointment online here or by ringing 119.
As part of the booking process, you will need to self-declare you are a frontline health or social care worker.

Vaccinations
From 19 April people who are employed as Personal Assistants providing frontline social care can again book a vaccination through the national portal.
Vaccination is a key tool in keeping your staff and their colleagues and families, the people they support and the wider community safe. If some of your staff have doubts, you may find it useful to steer them towards these trusted sources of information:

Am I a frontline social care worker?
The government has said: “All frontline social care workers directly working with people clinically vulnerable to COIVD-19 who need care and support irrespective of where they work (for example in people’s own homes, day centres, care homes for working age adults or supported housing); whether they care for clinically vulnerable adults or children; or who they are employed by (for example local government, NHS private sector or third sector employees).”

Where will vaccination take place?
Vaccination will take place in one of several sites in Sheffield. This will be confirmed when you arrange your appointment. You will be responsible for travelling to and from the vaccination centre. Please ensure you wear a mask and respect social distancing when you attend for your appointment.
Are COVID-19 vaccines safe?
Yes. Both vaccines have been shown to be safe and offer high levels of protection and have been given regulatory approval by the MHRA. There is continued monitoring after the vaccines are approved.

All medicines have a small chance of a side effect. Most are mild and short term and not everyone gets them. Side effects may include:
Do I need to have received my flu jab before I can get vaccinated?
No, however there must be at least 7 days between flu jabs and a COVID-19 vaccination.
