Ralph and Katie's Story Continues

Ralph and Katie's Story Continues

In a Spin-off series following the first year of marriage for the characters from ‘The A Word’ young couple Ralph and Katie face the domestic challenges faced by all newlyweds, but with the added fact that they have Down’s Syndrome. The series has been written by a team of disabled writers.

Disability campaigners have welcomed the announcement of the new programme, calling it an “excellent example of disabled representation on and off screen”.

Carol Boys, Chief Executive, Down’s Syndrome Association, says: “We’re so pleased that Ralph and Katie’s story will be continuing, and that Leon and Sarah, two marvellous actors, are getting this well-deserved opportunity to play the central characters in a BBC drama.”

Ralph and Katie will air at 9pm on BBC One from 5th October. You can watch the trailer here here.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
