Local Authority Care Act Implementation is Failing Disabled People

The Independent Living Strategy Group, of which Disability Rights UK is a member, and In Control have just launched a report ‘Promoting People’s Right to Choice and Control under the Care Act 2014’. Despite emphasis on wellbeing, choice and control within the Care Act, a survey found nearly half of respondents felt their quality of life had reduced and 30% experienced a reduction in choice and control. Research also found that Local Authorities are generally not yet meeting their duties to provide people with clear information. Find out more and view the report on Disability Rights UK’s website

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
