Join Mencap's Young People's Radio Group

Sheffield Mencap’s Young People’s Radio Group has been proving how much passion they have for their favourite subjects by making podcasts about them such as Dungeons And Dragons, clocks and musicals.

Places are available for any youngsters with learning disabilities aged between 12 and 16 who wish to join in. Taking part will help you to gain confidence and learn new skills, such as teamwork, researching, sound-sourcing, music-making and editing.

The group runs three Saturday mornings each month from 10am-noon at Norfolk Lodge (opposite Park Grange Croft tram stop) with occasional trips out into town. Each session costs £3.

You can listen to the group’s podcasts here.

If you’d like to register a young person, arrange for a taster session in your organisation or just talk to someone about the group you can contact Tracy Bryant on 07956 725117 or by email at tracybryant@sheffieldmencap.org.uk .

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
