Care Home Visiting

Care Home Visiting
From 21 June every care home resident can nominate up to 5 ‘named visitors’ who will be able to enter the care home for regular visits

Every care home resident can choose to nominate an essential care giver who may visit the home to attend to essential care needs. The essential care giver should be enabled to visit in all circumstances, including if the care home is in outbreak (but not if the essential care giver or resident are COVID-positive)

To reduce the risk of infection, residents can have no more than 2 visitors at a time or over the course of one day (essential care givers are exempt from – and so not included in – this daily limit)

Sheffield City Council is encouraging and supporting care homes in Sheffield to provide safe visiting opportunities. For further information please see the council’s website providing information about the existing local guidance on visiting in care homes and the national guidance .

On 14 June the government published a press release stating that care home residents will be able to spend more time with family and friends, including overnight stays as part of an easing of visiting restrictions.

The latest guidance on visits out of care homes is now available here.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
