It’s Learning Disability Week
From the 15th to the 21st of June a wide range of activities are taking place around Sheffield to celebrate . Learning Disability Week is an initiative set up by Mencap to show and embrace the perspectives of people with Learning Disabilities in the UK. The theme this year is “Do you see me?” which calls on the public to listen to the voices of people who have Learning Disabilities.
There are lots of fun activities organised by Art Works and other organisations from Talent Shows to Football Games.
Our own Sheffield Voices are also getting involved by discussing the theme in their groups.
This year’s programme has been produced through a collaboration across Sheffield’s learning disabled services and Sheffield City Council. The aim has been to produce a week of activities for local people to enjoy and to spark meaningful conversations about accessibility, belonging and social change.
