Living the Life you Want to Live – Have your Say Workshop - 3 - 5pm

Wednesday 20th October

Sheffield City Council is inviting feedback on their new Adult Health and Social Care Strategy, called ‘Living the life you want to live’. They want to hear from you about what you think are the key, big changes needed in adult health and social care to help make their vision for the next 10 years is a reality. There are some upcoming opportunities to hear about the strategy, what it covers and how it’s been developed so far as well as to contribute to the plan.

Living the Life you Want to Live – Have your Say Workshops

These workshops are focussed on the draft commitments from the strategy and developing the plan. The commitments below are the guiding principles to how the Council will deliver this strategy, highlighing what the Council wants to do better.

  • Support people to live a fulfilling life at home, connected to the community and resources around them, and provide care and support where needed.
  • Provide temporary assistance to help people regain some stability and control in their life following ill health or crisis.
  • Provide care and support with accommodation where this is needed in a safe and supportive environment that can be called home.
  • Make sure support is led by ‘what matters to you’, with helpful information and easier to understand steps.
  • Recognise and value the social care workforce, including unpaid carers, and the contribution they make to our city.
  • Make sure there is a good choice of affordable care and support available, with a focus on people’s experiences and improving quality.

The sessions below are open to anyone across adult social care as well as Sheffield citizens.Facilitated and open discussions will explore what would make a difference and how would we know we’ve made a difference. You’ll be able to join whichever commitment discussion you want for as long as you want.

20 October, from 3 to 5 pm
Register on Eventbrite

The session runs for 2 hours but feel free to stay for some or all of the conversations and you can attend both sessions if you wish.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
