Skills for Care Focus Group on Autism 10.00 - 15.45

Monday 21st January

Please note that both sessions for this event are FULLY BOOKED. Please add your name to the wait list to be informaed if places become available. Skills for Care are working with Skills for Health, the National Autistic Society and Opening Minds Consultancy to develop a ‘core capabilities framework’ about autism.

To help do this they are running five co-production sessions, and will be in sheffield on 21st January 2019.

At the session they will talk to you about:
• Which staff in public services have the most impact on the lives of autistic people?
• What values, skills and knowledge help staff do their jobs well?
• What is the best way for these workers to get these skills?
Skills for Care will use what you tell them to shape the new framework so that public services can ensure their staff deliver their services in the way that autistic people need. It will also help services to train their staff properly.
Who should attend?
The morning session (10.00-12.30) is for paid staff who support autistic people. These could be people who work in social care, health or any other public services who want to make their service more useful to autistic people.
The afternoon session (13.15-15.45) is for people with lived experience of autism. This means autistic people and family and friends of people with autism. Some people might have lived experience and work in a role that supports autistic people – you can choose to attend one or both of the sessions.
There is a question on the booking form which asks you to say which session you are attending – please try and tick the right box.

Recent Feedback    (We'd love to receive your feedback, please click here to add some)

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
