Yoga is 4 All

Yoga is 4 All

Have you ever thought about taking up yoga, an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing? Well, now is your chance to do it online.

Organised by Sheffield Cycling 4 All, the free Yoga 4 All sessions will take place every Tuesday evening between 7-8pm. View Poster

The project is funded by Sport England via Disability Rights UK, from a fund aiming to keep disabled people and people with long term health conditions exercising during COVID.

The sessions are specifically designed for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. Qualified Yoga teacher Jane Collins knows lots of ways to adapt traditional yoga practices, so that everybody who takes the class can experience all the benefits that yoga offers.

You can either be seated or on a mat but you’ll have a chance to explore what you can do with your body “with curiosity and kindness”. There will be opportunities to challenge yourself and plenty of nurture and nourishment too. Our intention is that you’ll finish each class feeling relaxed, empowered and excited about the ways that yoga can enhance your life.

This online exercise session takes place every Tuesday evening on video conferencing site Zoom. Participants will be given a code which they can put in to the app/website and take part in the live class.

If this is your first time joining us we ask that you complete a short ‘Health Form,’ this is a short form with a couple of questions about your health so that we don’t ask you to do anything you can’t do and to make sure you get the most out of your time with us!

To find out more and collect a Zoom ID, password and health form you can email info@sheffieldcycling4all or ring Rosemary on 07565 695296.

The sessions are free of charge but if you would like to make a donation to Disability Sheffield – who set up Sheffield Cycling 4 All – that would be appreciated. You can do so here.

Sheffield Cycling 4 All also runs the popular weekly Move And Chat exercise sessions every Wednesday morning from 11am-noon. You can read here what it’s like to take part.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
