Time for a Special Thank You to All our Volunteers

Time for a Special Thank You to All our Volunteers

During Volunteers’ Week ( 1 – 7 June ) we are proud to be celebrating the contribution of our volunteers to the work of Disability Sheffield and to the disabled community of Sheffield. We want to publicly thank them all for the fantastic volunteering they do for Disability Sheffield whether that is with Sheffield Cycling 4 All, Sheffield Voices, delivering PPE, our advocacy and information service, engagement and influence work or as a trustee.

Particularly during the past year of the pandemic we would not have been able to support and engage with so many disabled people without them. In pulling together our invite list to our celebration event on 8 June we realised that we have nearly 50 amazing people giving their time for free to support us in all areas of our work.

We’ve asked our volunteers to let us know what 3 words they associate with volunteering. Here are some of their words so far : collaborating, sharing, contributing, community, caring, ‘giving something back’, helping, peaceful, responsibility, ‘giving back to society’ , learning, friendship, happiness, love, valued, smiles.

Here are our messages from every service to say how much we appreciate and value our volunteers.

PPE Delivery

We hope our volunteers are aware how much we value their contribution and commitment, not just this week but all year round! THANK YOU !

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
