Participants Wanted For BBC2 Hate Crime Documentary

A planned BBC2 documentary on hate crime is looking for disabled people who have been the target of it to recount their experiences on camera.

The forthcoming programme will also cover the current COVID-19 pandemic and the effect it is having on disabled people.

“I’m a disabled filmmaker and have experience of disability hate crime myself,’‘ said the producer, who prefers to stay anonymous until contacted. “This will be a nuanced documentary about hate crime and the “hostile environment” disabled people experience in everyday life. I’m interested in all levels and types of experiences from all age groups – If you are under 18, we would need to speak to your parent/guardian too.”

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
