Healthwatch Sheffield Highlights

Healthwatch Sheffield has published its annual report for 2020-21, which gave them the chance to reflect on what was a difficult year for most. The organisation says that they have achieved some real highlights and spoken up for Sheffield’s communities where they could, but there’s lots still to do.

Among the information contained in it is that they:

  • Provided detailed information and advice to 252 people who contacted them this year – an increase of 93% compared to the year before
  • Developed ‘Covid Briefings’ early in the pandemic to let health and care commissioners know what was happening on the ground as services and rules shifted quickly. These became monthly ‘What have we been hearing?’ briefings, helping to identify issues early, leading to a faster response from services
  • Published reports to help improve other areas of care – including an in-depth look at people’s journey through the mental health system, and the experience of carers getting support from their GP

You can see the full report in detail here.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
