Guide Dogs Publishes Coronovirus Advice for Service Users and Volunteers

Guide Dogs, the national charity providing a range of services and support for Guide Dog users have created a dedicated Coronavirus section on their website.

The pages provides advice for their service users as well as advice for their volunteers.

The Guide Dogs organisation explain that their “top priority is the welfare and safety of the people we support, our volunteers, staff and our dogs.”

“We have a plan which we are reviewing daily based on the latest advice from the government and are tracking the current approaches being deployed across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We remain committed to helping people with sight loss lead the life they choose through our services and as far as is possible, business at Guide Dogs continues as usual.”

All local Guide Dogs teams are being briefed on specific matters related to coronavirus (Covid-19) and are being updated regularly as the situation evolves. If you have a specific concern or question you should contact your local Guide Dogs team and speak to a member of staff. If your enquiry cannot be answered immediately they will take your details, investigate and will respond to you within 24 hours.

If Guide Dogs cannot resolve your enquiry immediately they will take your details, investigate and will respond to you within 24 hours. They also recommend that you contact your Volunteer Manager / key contact directly rather than seeking information elsewhere – as they will be in a position to provide you with accurate, current and practical guidance.

Guide Dogs also recommend everyone keeps up-to-date with the latest NHS Coronavirus Guidelines.
