Free Taxi Provision to Access Vaccination Clinics

Free Taxi Provision to Access Vaccination Clinics

Sheffield City Council is offering support to provide a taxi service to anyone unable to access their Covid jabs at a vaccination clinic because of transport difficulties, who otherwise could not or would not attend.
Sheffield City Council will then receive an itemised bill of the trip and cover the cost. This arrangement is currently running until 31 March 2022.

The following criteria apply to anyone:

· Who is eligible for Covid vaccination 1st, 2nd, 3rd or booster dose

· Is attending a Sheffield vaccination clinic

· Is facing a barrier that access to a taxi would help ensure they get vaccinated

Barriers include:

· Logistical transport barriers, e.g. lack of access to a car, no support network able to provide transport, difficulty/inability to access public transport

· Health barriers, public transport is not appropriate or accessible

· Financial barriers, unable to afford transport costs

· Behavioural, providing transport where a ‘nudge ‘is needed to ensure attendance including vaccine hesitancy and not having previously had been vaccinated

The taxis can be arranged for patients through your GP surgery or by your Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN ) and by staff at a number of organisations in the city including here at Disability Sheffield.

If you have a disability and meet the above criteria we are happy to arrange a taxi service for you ( using a code provided by the council ) so give us a call on 0114 253 6750 or email info@disabilitysheffield.org.uk to let us know where you live, the clinic you wish to attend and on which day.

Recent Feedback    (We'd love to receive your feedback, please click here to add some)

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
