Disability Hate Crime Research

Disability Hate Crime Research

United Response has partnered with the Motability Foundation on a research project, focusing specifically on the lived experience of disabled people who have been victims of disability hate Crime on public transport. A team of disabled researchers has come together to create a first-of-its-kind survey to generate new insights into the issue.

United Response need your stories to show how very real this problem is. They say that taking the results of their survey to public transport providers, the police, and the Government will make a huge difference, believing that “When we speak up together, our voices cannot be ignored”.

This is the first entry in United Response’s new Experts on Disability Hate Crime blog which includes advice on dealing with hate crime if you encounter it. Further discussion of this issue, including updates on the research project, will feature in the coming months.

View website and let United Response know of your experiences.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
