Advocacy and Information Celebration and Video

We hope that you enjoyed our Celebration Event on Thursday 6th December at the Virgin Lounge , marking 10 years of our advocacy and information service, as much as we did. Thank you to everyone who attended – a great turn out of over 60 people – and to our sponsors who made the celebration possible – Switalskis solicitors, our local Sainsbury’s on Division Street and Virgin for the use of their fantastic lounge. A special thank you to our trustee Christine Griffiths from Switalskis solicitors for her support and assistance at the event. Photograph courtesy the Sheffield Star.

There was a happy atmosphere, lots of conversations taking place and speeches from and presentations to our longest serving members of staff, Keith Campbell and Val Bowen who have both been with the service since it started.

We marked the occasion by launching our fantastic new video about the advocacy and information service, produced by one of our volunteers Andrew Smith, who has done a great job for us, thank you Andrew.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference
