    Sheffield Voices which is part of Disability Sheffield is looking for a person with a learning disability to join our team as a peer self-advocate.The job is for 10 hours a week. The pay is £7.426 per year. You need to ask us for a job pack and fill and return the application form by 9am on the 13th August.

Are you interested in joining a Lived Experience Advisory Panel ( LEAP ) for an NHS research project on improving mental health services for people from ethnic minority backgrounds?It is hoped that the first LEAP panel will be taking place in the last week of July on a weekday with a mix of people in terms of age, gender, sexuality and ethnicity.

    Sheffield Mencap and Gateway have a range of new extra-curricular projects for children aged 6 – 16 with learning difficulties/disabilities or autism. There is something for everyone – from drama to fitness to technology.Sessions are best suited to children who can remain in one room for 45 minutes at a time and cost £3 per session.

    Sheffield Cycling 4 All is again riding high running sessions (which you have to pre-book currently ) in Hillsborough Park Monday to Friday and the last Saturday of every month. But their activities will be temporarily suspended due to the Tramlines festival from July 12th to August 3rd.     Do you know any young carers who are isolated and in need of a break? If so, the Young Carers Activity Fund could help.As well as individual and group grants of £300, organisations can also apply for £20 e-vouchers for young carers. Young carers can use the vouchers to buy whatever they like to help relieve some of the boredom and stress of caring.There is no closing date for the vouchers, which will be allocated until the funding is gone.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
