    Voluntary Action Sheffield are trying to understand where the experience of going to hospital and coming back home could be improved for older people aged 55+ in Sheffield to develop recommendations for more involvement of voluntary organisations in the planning, discharge and support at home for patients and carers across Sheffield.   • Volunteers' Week Thank You

    This week host organisations are setting time aside to celebrate and say thank to volunteers across the country. The work we do at Disability Sheffield would not be possible without our valued volunteers who help us to deliver our services – answering information enquiries, providing advocacy support, writing about news and events , providing IT support, serving on the Disability Hub Committee, helping with admin, answering the phones, supporting Sheffield Cycling 4 All and Sheffield Voices learning disability group, helping with research, filming videos, the list is getting longer ! We thank each and every one of you, past and present, and hope that you are aware how much we appreciate your contribution and commitment , not just this week but all year round!

  • Sheffield Student Wins Mencap's Journalism Award

    A Sheffield student has won a prestigious prize for her film about the challenges facing a teenager with autism and learning disabilities. Hannah Makepeace, aged 26, and studying for an MA in broadcast journalism, produced a TV news-style clip about Osian Williams from the Peak District, which was declared the winner in this year’s Mencap Journalism Awards

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
