Sheffield Voices self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities and autism has released its latest newsletter to let you know what activities they held in April. Also mentioned is the upcoming “You Speak We Listen” event, which is taking part on May 26th at Hillsborough Arena including a session around the cost of living and how it is impacting the learning disability community.

Congratulations to Sheffield Voices which has received 1 of 42 grants issued by the Tramlines Trust. Thanks to their funding for charities, grassroots community organisations and projects in the Sheffield area the award will support the development of Sheffield Voices’new LGBTQ+ cafĂ© for autistic adults.

Catch up and get involved with a drama group with a difference celebrating their first anniversary.Pyjama Drama has helped to put Disability Sheffield’s learning disablity group, Sheffield Voices, on the map nationally as a self-advocacy group that is challenging assumptions and practices in a creative way and is looking for new members from November 2022.

Sheffield Voices was commissioned by the Clinical Commissioning Group to run a series of events in May to find out what people with learning disabilities and autistic people feel about health services in Sheffield. They connected with around 100 people who were able to give their views in this Easy Read report.

Our Sheffied Voices self-advocacy drama group has developed a play ‘Welcome to Sunny Smiles Care Home’ about the best ( or possibly the Worst ! ) care home around…. which we are showcasing on 4th May at 5.30pm to 6.30 pm at the Showroom Workstation, 15 Paternoster Row Sheffield. If you have a learning disability and want to learns some acting skills we are also looking for new participants for our next adventure starting on 13th May.
