People from blind and deaf communities say they have been left feeling isolated, scared and at risk due to a lack of access to vital information during the coronavirus crisis. A group of charities have told the Government they’re concerned over the way the particular needs of disabled people are not being taken into consideration in official communications.

The four UK Arts Councils have commissioned a feasibility study to determine whether a UK wide arts access card scheme is wanted, is needed and is financially possible. The feasibility study is seeking additional detailed feedback from disabled and D/deaf people and disability organisations throughout the UK, on key questions which will determine the scope and some operational aspects of the scheme.

The BBC Red Button Teletext Service has been saved from switch off after the NFBUK and British Deaf Association handed in a petition to the Director General of the BBC.Disability Sheffield backed the petition along with 174 other organisations from across the UK including Age UK and the National Association of Deafened People (NADP).
