These mark-the-day days can feel like tokenism. But this day on 3rd December needs to be treated as a spotlight, shining not just on us, but on a society that in many ways disables us. We need to be seen, heard and valued. During today on social media we’ll be posting a few quotes, We particularly need to respond to the call today of ‘Nothing about us, without us’ calling for persons with disabilities to actively shape the conditions of their lives.

The Department of Works and Pensions ( DWP ) have been made aware of text messages issued to DWP customers. The messages relate to claiming either Cost of Living payments or Winter Fuel and invites the text recipients to claim via clicking a link. Please remain vigilant and take action to avoid the scam.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are collecting views from their patients and local communities about how they communicate with patients. They have announced dates for two online focus groups on 27th November and 6th December.

November 20th marks the 25th Transgender Day of Remembrance. It honours the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Research shows that transgender people reported higher rates of disability (30 percent) compared with *cisgender women (24 percent) or *cisgender men (18 percent). Statistics around their healthcare are very troubling.
