Mencap has launched a national campaign to transform how the NHS treats people with learning disabilities in hospital and is looking for local people to tell of their experiences. Sheffield Mencap’s Young People’s Radio Group has been proving how much passion they have for their favourite subjects by making podcasts about them.Places are available for any youngsters with learning disabilities aged between 12 and 16 who wish to join the group.

They are about to launch a project called Right to Participate, which aims to increase awareness of the Equality Act, especially the ways it can protect disabled people from discrimination in everyday situations.

Are you aware of the Sheffield International Venues ( SIV ) One+Plus One scheme. The scheme provides free access for a carer, family member, support worker or friend for anyone requiring support to part in leisure opportunities. SIV has told us that over 100 people have benefited from the scheme over the past year, with over 6,000 attendances and are keen to make sure that people know about and use the scheme.
