    Ask Your MP To Speak Up For People with Learning Disabilities

    A major organisation which represents people with learning disabilities has launched a campaign to ask MPs to help prioritise all members of this vulnerable group for Coronavirus vaccinations. Mencap says that despite the fact that people with a learning disability are more than six times as likely to die from Coronavirus as the general population, many are not in any of the priority groups for the jab.

    Proposal to Relocate Sheffield Cycling 4 All

    Sheffield Cycling 4 All has secured funding for storage space to keep their selection of adapted bikes after having to move from their original base due to alterations to the Hillsborough park’s amenities. Sheffield City Council has set up an online survey to gauge opinions on the storage space itself and how it should look. Please contribute to the discussion about the planning proposal.     Disability Unit Survey

    The Disability Unit at the Cabinet Office is developing a national strategy for disabled people. Publication is planned for Spring 2021. To help the government with understanding the barriers that disabled people face and what it may need to focus upon to improve the lives of disabled people, the Disability Unit has issued a survey hoping to hear about your views and know more about your experiences.The survey will be open until 23 April 2021. Responses received before 13 February 2021 will inform the development of the National Strategy, while those received after this date used to inform its delivery.

    Criminals are using the COVID-19 vaccine as a way to target the public by tricking them to hand over cash or financial details. They are sending convincing looking text messages letting people know they are eligible for the vaccine or phoning people directly pretending to be from the NHS, or local pharmacy. Be alert to and find out how to report any scams.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
