The Sheffield branch of Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) has organised a local demonstration as part of a national day of action against Universal Credit. It will take place outside Sheffield City Hall .
The national organisation was set up in 2010 to promote full rights for disabled people and to oppose austerity measures which have been shown to heavily impact the disabled population.
DPAC say that the controversial Universal Credit scheme – which is being rolled out by the Government to replace six other benefits, including housing benefit, income support and income-related Employment and Support Allowance – again disproportionately affects disabled people.
