Building Better Opportunities

Disability Sheffield will be delivering a 10 week peer-led wellbeing and employment support course as part of this programme. More details to follow January 2017.

Building Better Opportunities – Sheffield City Region (BBO SCR) is an integrated, person-centred employment service for people with physical and mental health conditions, learning disabilities and complex needs. It’s based on Individual Placement Support, a “place then train” approach that’s shown to be twice as effective as traditional approaches. The BBO SCR Partnership will support 642 adults over the next 2 years to find competitive employment and training opportunities. BBO SCR has received £2.7million of funding from the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme in England.

Just the Job

‘Just the Job’ was a Peer Support Job Club which took place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. This Club started in January 2014. If you were on Employment Support Allowance (ESA) in the work related activity group, had been out of work for two years or over and were thinking about working and needed a little bit of extra help then ‘Just the Job’ was for you.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
