Walking for Purpose - Take the next step to Employment

Walking for Purpose will be launching the 2nd block of walks on Tuesday 10th October in two new areas in Darnall and Lowedges. The programme below now includes four walks a week. Walking for Purpose offers jobseekers the opportunity to gain valuable skills and training that employers want, whilst being active with a gentle walk.

Participants meet at a local venue where the Walking for Purpose friendly, approachable staff will walk with you to different training providers or workplaces where you will be able to:

  • Gain valuable insight into the types of roles held within different organisations
  • Get tips from local employers/training providers to make you more employable
  • Develop and enhance your skills and experiences – great for your CV
  • Receive a free one day travel pass for buses, trams and trains to help you attend
  • Get access to free training courses
  • Attend a celebration event at the end of your journey to celebrate your achievements

Anyone gaining employment as a result of Walking for Purpose will get a free one month travel pass!

Walks are scheduled for the following days/dates and please get in touch for future dates and start venues:

Day: Tuesdays
Start Venue: Lowedges Community Centre (Lowedges)
Time: 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm

Day: Wednesdays (walk only)
Start Venue: Town Hall entrance (City Centre)
Time:10.00 am – 12 Noon

Day: Thursdays
Start Venue: Darnall Wellbeing (Darnall)
Time: 10.30 am – 12.30 pm

Day: Fridays
Start Venue: Town Hall (City Centre)
Time: 10.00 am – 12 noon

Booking is essential, please inform them of any disability or impairment you have so that reasonable adjustments are in place if needed.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
