ROFA to submit shadow report to the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People (CRPD)

ROFA is submitting a shadow report to the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People (CRPD) scrutiny process in Geneva in March. They are currently updating their 2014 shadow report. Following DPAC’s challenge under the CRPD Optional Protocol – the results of the inquiry, considers that there is “reliable evidence that the threshold of grave or systematic violations of the rights of persons with disabilities has been met in the State party.”

ROFA will circulate to members a draft shadow report for comments before being submitted to the UN in the middle of February. If you want to participate in this process then make sure you are part of a ROFA member organisation, by using this link http://www.rofa.org.uk/joinrofa/

ROFA is sending representatives to Geneva in early March to meet with the CRPD committee to present our evidence and discuss both the UK Government report and the outcomes of the inquiry.

A full briefing has been issued to MP’s on the UN enquiry and is available in full to download from the ROFA website.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
