Guide to Independent Living in Sheffield 2016

Do you wish to maintain your independence at home? Would it help you if you knew more about how to get a handrail fitted in your home, personal care alarms, how to get a meal delivered to your home, how to find a good home care service?

Are you feeling isolated or lonely or do you have difficulty getting out and about? Would it help you if you could find out about community transport and shop mobility schemes, travel buddies, where to buy, hire or loan wheelchairs or mobility aids, clubs and activities for you to take part in?

If your answer to any of these questions is “yes” then Sheffield City Council’s latest “Guide to Independent Living in Sheffield” could help you .

Jack, one of the Council’s Community Support Workers tells you more about the guide and how to obtain a copy here

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
