    NHS Sheffield Community Survey Findings

    NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group and Sheffield City Council are working together to develop plans for next year to help make the people of Sheffield healthier and stay independent, safe and well. The CCG has released a report based on its consultation findings with residents from across Sheffield including work undertaken by Disability Sheffield and other Voluntary, Community and Faith sector organisations, to gain feedback from diverse groups of people.

    We think everyone with a learning disability or autism should get good healthcare. Disability Sheffield is hosting a series of events during the week of 16th-20th May to find out what people’s experiences are of accessing healthcare in Sheffield. if you have a learning disability , autism or you are a carer, do join us. We’ll also send out a survey and offer a phoneline for two weeks so you can call and leave messages for us to tell us what you think.

    Consultation on Compulsory Vaccination of Care Home Staff

    The government is seeking views on a proposal to make COVID-19 vaccination a condition of deployment in older adult care homes.This would mean older adult care home providers could only use those staff who have received the COVID-19 vaccination (or those with a legitimate medical exemption) in line with government guidance.The deadline for responding to the consultation is Friday 21 May 2021.

    Although female life expectancy is higher than men in the UK, women on average spend less of their life in good health compared with men. Less is known about conditions that only affect women and women are diagnosed late or their conditions are overlooked. The government want to hear from as many women as possible from all ages and backgrounds about what you think works well and what needs to change.

    Have you been Affected by Food Poverty ?

    The Covid-19 crisis has pushed individuals and families into financial hardship and some people do not have enough money to afford to eat a nutritiously adequate diet. Sheffield City Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee has set up a working group to look at Food Poverty in Sheffield. If you have been affected by food poverty you can let the Council know about your experience on their consultation hub until 14th March 2021 .

    Living the Life You Want : Adult Social Care Review

    Sheffield City Council launches the start of their consultation today on their new Adult Social Care strategy for Sheffield over the next 5 to 10 years. Stage 1 of the review asks for your views on the proposed vision, principles and commitments of the strategy. “We don’t have all the answers. We need your wisdom, experience, and knowledge to help design our services in future. We want you to challenge our thinking, help look for solutions and really make adult social care in Sheffield the best it can be.“The consultation closes on November 29.

    Consultation Over Pavement Parking Ban Plan

    Pavement parking often presents major challenges for disabled people, especially for people with visual impairments , wheelchair users and people who use mobility aids, leading to calls to make it illegal. After years of campaigning the Government has set up a consultation on whether pavement parking should be banned and local authorities given more powers to challenge those who do so.The consultation closes on 22 November 2020.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
