We are a membership and user led organisation, run and controlled by disabled people. We promote independent living for disabled people in Sheffield. By independent living we mean that disabled people have the same freedom and rights to exercise choice and control over their own lives as any other person.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

These mark-the-day days can feel like tokenism. But this day on 3rd December needs to be treated as a spotlight, shining not just on us, but on a society that in many ways disables us. We need to be seen, heard and valued. During today on social media we’ll be posting a few quotes, We particularly need to respond to the call today of ‘Nothing about us, without us’ calling for persons with disabilities to actively shape the conditions of their lives.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
